Do you enjoy working at your company? Summer Youth Employment has many different opportunities and positions for all different kinds of jobs. I was hired in and in for SYEP. Some of the worksites actually have an interview process and will hire SYEP for jobs after the 6 weeks are finished which is really nice if you want to continue working for them.

Pros Ability to advance to a better position, easy application process, paid training and workshops. Cons Can sometimes be unorganized and chaotic, favortism and sometimes rude coworkers. Working with SYEP over the summer was a good experience.

I got to connect with the kids I worked with as well as my staff. We enjoyed fun activities together. Pros Good break time. Cons None. SYEP allowed me to have my first job which paid well and was my first experience in the job world. They find a job for you from what they have available and you're pretty much given one at random although they do ask what you are comfortable with. Pros Paid, learning experience. Productive and a good place to work for during the summer.

SYEP is a great program that give students the opportunity to work during the summer. It gives students some income, as well as prepares them to work in other places. They require you to assist to a 1 week orientation session. Here, they teach you how to create resume, how to apply for jobs, how to write professional emails, how to save money, etc.

Their goal is to prepare you for future jobs. I loved to work with them and learned a lot from them. Pros Flexible hours, valuable knowledge. Pros good pay for new workers.

Cons short breaks, lack of communication, rushed environment. We want to help you find great companies. Help us be the best! It was very informative and working there at a young age was a good thing and it was fun. I learned about my culture due to what position I was in, and it was like a summer camp so teaching the kids in that area and seeing them learn more about the history was quite the experience.

Pros Sometimes you get free lunches. If the applicant does not have a work permit, they must upload all other required documents. Once the applicant submits the work permit, their file will be reviewed based on where we are in the approval process. A current Work Permit will be required prior to job placement.

No exceptions! Note: You must have an updated physical in order to get a work permit, so please apply early. Make every effort to attend school every day!
